Favourite Project My favourite projects are the most challenging ones. I was asked to work with a team in translating an artist design concept of puddles in a desert. With a strict budget and the Saudi desert as the location, we used prefabricated sewage tunnels (clean new ones) as a cost effective solution to house the interactive design components and electrics for the night time display. This was a truly collaborative project with many intelligent minds coming together to realise this permanent art installation. My career started in spatial design so I enjoy seeing the joy that this project brought to the users. Dream Project I believe we have a big responsibility to make a change in the world for the better. I have focused my career so far on providing resilience to communities post disaster. There are many disasters occurring like plastic pollution, pandemics, isolation, poverty, unsustainable practices and many more. Now you don’t. Breaking New Ground in Alula, is an artists installation built in the Saudi Arabian desert. An exploratory project in the area of advanced prosthetic devices identified a significant issue with the accessibility, usability and cost of prosthetic devices. This project bloomed into a company, which has gone on to win multiple prestigious awards. Assisting in the ethical design of a livestock methane oxidisation system, working on parametric design with a focus on design for manufacture to help take this project to it’s next testing phase. A collaboration between Jack Wild and Madelaine Dowd, Unstable Ground is an interactive exhibition installation exploring the interconnected stories of the 2009 L’Aquila earthquake in Italy. We wanted to create an interactive installation which would allow users to explore the interviews in a way which was engaging and encouraged focused listening. This paper explores the possibilities and the downfall of the evolution in disaster communication. The aim of the text is to focus on the humanitarian perspective, therefore, with the intention of conveying the message back to the people within the disaster. Providing a framework to develop tangible connections through multimodal discourse analysis and narrative. Created for London Bridge Hospital, Sepsis Six is an educational film that is used to raise awareness to the signs of Sepsis. The production was a collaboration between the LBH staff. This film is used internally within the hospital during staff training and for World Sepsis Day. The nature of relief design involves a boundary between the design process and the area of its use. This disconnection between these two features can pose a negative distraction for the whole intention. The sensitivity of the whole idea can be mistranslated by differing approaches.
